Coaching Ethic

All coaches have their own reasons for becoming a coach and their own particular style of coaching.  The style and emphasis will depend on the program you choose for your child however there are some key ethics that we carry throughout ALL of our programs:

Effort is highly valued not just achievement...

It is very exciting for coaches and gymnasts when a new skill is achieved and we believe the most important thing to recognise is the work that was put in to get there.  At Alton we place the highest value on effort, hard work and perseverence.  This approach develops confidence and pride in participation.

Our programs are all athlete-focused...

The child takes centre stage when it comes to making decisions regarding his or her path within gymnastics.  We give as much information as possible to ensure parents and gymnasts know what is involved in our various programs. Ultimately the desire to participate in training is one of the most important factors in success and without that intrinsic desire the child will only be driven by the adults around him/her. We encourage open communication and our KEY philosophy is about choice and opportunity.  Each child is given the opportunity to reach his/her potential in the disciplines we offer according to the path he/she chooses to take.
